Aosta
Founded in the year 377 by Monks travelling out of Shireroth, Aosta has been a place of deep religious significance for years. The city, which sits in the shadow of Mount Aosta itself, is filled with historical landmarks, including the Old City Gate and the large wall which surrounds the city. These have been rebuilt numerous times and the city has spread so that the Wall simply separates one part of town from another.
Over the years, as the city grew, the Catholics began to cluster within the walls. Protestants moved outside the walls and built their own communities. This distinction is still noticeable today, as there are no Catholic Churches outside the walls and no Protestant Churches within. Interestingly, all of these churches remain affiliated with the non Denominational 'Church of Tellia' organization.
Aosta is thought by many to have been the original capitol of Tellia...Most scholars agree that the monks who founded Tellia stayed for several months in Aosta, before moving on to found Romero. Having established connections with the faithful of Aosta, the relationship helped bring Eddis into the new nation of Tellia in 577.
The population is currently estimated to be around 380,000. The major industries including publishing, printing, and tourism. No less than fourteen Publishing Houses (8 of which are religious publishers) have set up presses and offices in Aosta.
People come from miles around to visit the beautiful city, which still contains the original Cathedral of Aosta.
In 2007, over 20,000 people moved to the bustling city, drawn in by the now booming economy and the 'home town' feel.
