Ravenna
Ravenna was not founded until 1934, when Tellian automobile manufacturers were looking for a relatively empty area to set up factories. In 1934, Modell (The first automobile manufacturer in Tellia, shut down in 1963) had set up a large factory and created a small city alongside it. Around 1200 workers from the factory lived in the town.
In 1937, Modell opened another factory, bringing in another 3000 workers. By 1940 the town had a bank, general store, post office, and several other businesses springing up. Still, only around 50 people in the town weren't employees of Modell.
In 1945 Ravenna officially incorporated and became a town. With dwindling sales, Modell sold both factories to a larger company who used the space for Aircraft production.
By the 1960s, Ravenna had a population of around 120,000 and 8 different factories. The first skyscrapers were now being designed for the city and within ten years it had become an industrial and economic powerhouse.
Today, the city is still filled with industry and business. Some of the largest companies in Tellia keep their corporate headquarters in the large downtown area and keep factories nearby on the outskirts of town.
The city is well known for being extremely polluted, with a visible haze on the horizon as you approach the city in plane or car.
Around 1,200,000 people currently live in the city, making it the second largest in the nation.
Ravenna is also known for being the first (and only) city in Tellia with real suburbs. Unlike Romero, who claimed land nearby quickly and continues to expand, Ravenna was content to allow other small cities to develop.
