ROUGH
The King was angry as he strode into the Private Meeting Room of Halton Manor. This trip was supposed to be a vacation, free of work or worry. Instead, it had turned into a political nightmare.
He cursed under his breath as he noticed that his shoe was untied. He bent to tie it and leaned against the wall. As he finished the knot, a man walked in.
"Your Majesty, Mr. Zakharov is ready."
"Thank you."
The man nodded his head, a slight bow, and backed out of the room. Christopher straightened his tie, and gave himself a quick once-over before leaving the room.
He moved swiftly down the hallway and into the larger meeting room. Seated at the table were various politicians from both Katyusha and Tellia. Christopher took a seat at one end of the table, noting that Zakharov was seated directly to his right. The other end of the table was not occupied.
Zakharov thrust his hand into the King's, shaking it heartily.
"Greetings, Comrade." He smiled. "Perhaps we should begin by dismissing these delegations for some private conversation?"
Christopher tilted his head slightly but then nodded and waved his hand towards the Tellians. They rose and left quickly. The Katyushans soon followed.
"Now, let's get down to the issue. Neither of us have time for pleasantries. Tellia is a nation in which political parties of all sorts have always been allowed...But, never before have we had a Party that would cause as much controversy as a Communist one could." The King said, placing his hands on his knees and looking the Katyushan directly in the eyes.
"I assure you, The Katyushan Government will work to make sure that this party interferes in no way with the Tellian way of life, Your Majesty."
"That is just what I am afraid of...Katyushan interference. I know what you think of me, my ideas, and my nation. We will not succumb to Communist Revolutionaries!" He said, acid dripping from his words.
Zakharov face seemed to darken. "Katyusha has no plans to instigate revolution in Tellia."
"The Department of Civil Protection Services and Security along with the General Administration will be closely monitoring the party's activities. It will be allowed to form, but only because some very good friends of mine share your philosophies...Many in my government will be very displeased."
"I assure you, the party will work only to better your nation, Your Majesty."
The meeting ended soon after...A joint Press Conference was held and announcements were made...And within a matter of days both ranking political officials and average citizens were signing up for the party in numbers that had not been expected at all.
