History of Viganera
Viganera, the province, was founded first by a Hispanian Philosopher named Javier Baraneiki. At the time, being the late 1700s, he was the most renowned astronomer in Hispania, by far, and was definitely considered a contender for the best on Micras.
He was traveling from his home country, sailing by sea, and walking on foot, in search of a place to set up his own station and laboratories to further study mathematics, science, and astronomy. Once he reached the Hispanian Border, he set out on a ship, the 'Cavalier'. He set out on the water until he was taken down a narrower river.
At random, he docked his boat and began to journey on foot. He travelled for several weeks until he struck a milestone in his trip. He encountered a mysterious establishment. It much resembled an ancient ritual ground, although it was more triangular. Also, unlike traditional ritual grounds, there was a blue ring of light surrounding the structure. He had seen nothing like it through his journeys.
He experienced a feeling, however odd it may have been, he knew it well. God was speaking to him. He was telling him to take settlement there. Javier did the right thing, obeying God. He began to build his Space Observatory, which is now situated in Angiari. Many people commuted, mostly scientists and astronomers, to use the observatory, and later on, more cities were established.
Over time, a culture developed. Education became strictly important in the region. The University of Viganera (UOV) became by far the ideal location to study Astronomy, Mathematics, and several types of science. Recently, in the more modern age, an annual festival is held to celebrate the creation of the province, the establishment of the Observatory and the works of Javier Baraneiki.
Although many parts of this story are based on local traditional legends, historians agree that Javier did exist and founded the observatory based on interest in relics nearby. The Scientific Community which grew up around the area became first a city, then a grouping of cities, and today...it is a province.
